Amy of Husk Preservation, INC. worked under millwrights Jim and Peter Kricker of Rondout Woodworking on the Windmill on Shelter Island, NY. We worked to: 1. remove the old windshaft, neck bearing and weather beam, 2. replicate the neck bearing and weather beam and install, 3. make scarf repairs to the intersecting door frame and horizontal shear braces, 3. install the new windshaft, and 4. assemble and hang the new sails.
